NYEN REPORTS
Overview

National Youth Empowerment Network (NYEN) is a registered not-for-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO). It started in March 2006 as a community-based organization (CBO) called “Bulondo Youth - Anti-AIDS Association.” After the local district government and the Ugandan government realized the essential and quality work performed by NYEN members at community levels amongst the youth, NYEN branched off from BYAA and was fully incorporated as an NGO in August 2009.

NYEN seeks to create synergies by facilitating networking among youth and youth community-based organizations. Today the organization is operating in several districts of Uganda through community-based organization networks and on ground activities including the following:

    * Bushenyi district in western Uganda through Kampala International University Youth Empowerment Association (KIUYEA)

    * Wakiso district in central Uganda through Bulondo Youth Anti-AIDS Association (BYAA) and on ground activities

    * Nakaseke district in central Uganda through Kyamutakasa Youth Community Development Association (KYCDA)

What the NGO does

NYEN equips youth with knowledge and skills that can enable them to live a better life through activities such as:

    * Health education in schools and communities

    * Offering free education

    * Medical outreach

    * Poverty alleviation through skills training and development

    * Food security through fish farming

    * Consumer awareness in schools and communities

Future plans

NYEN looks forward to establishing itself as a leading national and regional youth empowerment organization as we establish institutions such as the following:

*    Education

·         Build a nursery, primary and secondary school to provide formal education for the youth. (Currently we are renting space for our nursery and primary school.)

·         Build a technical institution that incorporates skills development into daily activities.

*     Health

·         Establish a hospital that offers medical services for community members

*    Agriculture

·         Improve upon our recently built fish farm to make it a core fish farm for the county

·         Establish crop farms to teach youth and community members about farming methods

·         Establish a piggery farm

Note:

NYEN is proud to announce the donation of 30 hectares of land in the organization’s name, thus providing a location where we can carry out our future plans and establish these institutions forever.
